Hi, I’m Yan Du, founder of Finnovix.
I started my career in academia, studying and teaching accounting and management control. One question kept coming back: why do organisations have more data than ever, yet still struggle to get clear answers from it?
The problem is rarely a lack of data. More often, the numbers sit across systems, reports and processes that were never designed to work together — making it difficult to understand what is really driving cost, profitability and performance.
After seven years in academia, I wanted to work on those problems from inside the business. I joined DEME Group, where I spent the next seven years working across Digital Finance, Data Governance and Business Analysis.
That took me well beyond finance alone. I worked on Dynamics 365 F&O implementations, management reporting and BI, CAPEX budgeting, and cost controlling improvement projects. Working in an asset-intensive environment also brought me close to technical and operational teams — learning how equipment, investment decisions and day-to-day operations ultimately translate into financial performance.
It taught me to look at a finance problem from more than one angle: the numbers, the underlying business process, the system and data behind it, and the people who actually work with it.
In 2026, I founded Finnovix to bring those two worlds together. Today, I work at the intersection of finance, data and systems — helping organisations get clearer answers from their numbers and improve the processes behind them.
That can mean building better management reporting from ERP data. It can mean improving a cost or performance model. Or it can mean working alongside a finance team to strengthen a process, system or way of working.
Different starting points, but the principle is the same:
Understand the business problem first. Then build the solution around it.
My academic background taught me to question assumptions and understand what really drives performance. Industry taught me that the best solution is the one people understand, trust and actually use.

20+ years in Belgium. Still plenty of Asia left to discover.
Born in China and based in Belgium for more than 20 years, with work experience across Belgium and France. Somehow, I’ve never visited another Asian country. That remains an open item on the list.
